Helen Kroger (born 11 March 1959) is an Australian politician. She has been a Liberal member of the Australian Senate since July 2008, representing the state of Victoria. She was the Victorian state president of the Liberal Party from 2003 to 2006, and oversaw the rebuilding of the Liberal Party after the 2002 state election.
Helen Kroger was elected to the Australian Senate for Victoria at the 2007 federal election after being preselected in the safe second position on the Liberal ticket, behind Mitch Fifield and ahead of number three candidate Scott Ryan.[1]
Senator Kroger commenced office on 1 July 2008. She has been appointed to the Senate Legislative and General Purpose Standing: Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee.
In the 1970s she played an active role in the Young Liberals.[2]
In 1999 she stood for preselection in the state seat of Burwood when it was vacated by Jeff Kennett in 1999. She was defeated.[2]
In 2003 she became President of the Victorian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia.[3]
In February 2010 she was injured in a dog attack in her Hawthorn front yard.[4]
